The California Independent System Operator (ISO) hosted a game-based workshop using Stanford PESD's Energy Market Game (EMG), in which Western regulators, regulatory staff, and energy officials played the roles of generating companies in wholesale electricity markets to learn in a hands-on way about key principles of market operation. The two-day workshop in Folsom, CA, led by PESD and CAISO staff, built to a culminating game with a day-ahead market and high shares of intermittent renewable energy.
