Gordon Leslie joined PESD in summer 2014. At PESD, he is assisting Professor Wolak in providing economic analysis in a variety of energy topics. Examples of such topics include analyzing strategic behavior in wholesale electricity markets, implementing field trials measuring consumer responses to information based treatments in Mexico and examining the cost drivers in the USA wind industry.
Gordon commenced his PhD studies at Stanford in 2013 in the Economics department. He holds Bachelors degrees in Commerce (with Honours) and Science from the University of Melbourne. He has work experience at the Australian Treasury where he modeled pension, superannuation personal tax and welfare policy, including the household assistance packages tied to the introduction of carbon pricing in 2012.
Gordon's research interests include evaluating the impacts of market design and regulation on market outcomes, particularly in electricity and carbon markets.
